Alcohol Peer Support In Brighton

GOAL is an independent service offering information, support and advice to anyone concerned about their alcohol consumption. GOAL is entirely peer managed, everyone involved has personal experience of overcoming alcohol dependency and a commitment to helping others change their lives.

We run weekly Peer Support Groups at Community Base in Brighton where members talk about the challenges they face, the obstacles they have overcome and the changes they have made since they stopped drinking. You can hear group members talking about their experieces by clicking here.

1-2-1 support is available by appointment at Community Base. We can carry out a brief assessment, offer advice on how to safely reduce your alcohol consumption and make referrals to other services when necessary...including medically assisted detox.

Why Join A Peer Support Group?

Relapse Prevention is at the core of our peer support model. By attending GOAL you will develop an awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. You will learn to recognise the 'triggers' that might lead to a lapse or relapse and develop successful strategies for staying healthy.

Sharing your experiences with people who have had similar problems can be useful, it can help you realise you are not alone. It's a good way to learn and develop successful strategies for your life without alcohol...and you might have some fun while you're doing it.

Our Relapse Prevention model is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but does not exclude other approaches to staying sober. We recognise that each of us makes a unique journey as we try to regain control of our lives and move forward. We hope you will find and accept support from a variety of sources and that GOAL will be one part of your process of change.

We can signpost other services and peer groups offering additional support which might be of interest to you.
